Annie and Joe’s pre-wedding shoot on Lincoln West Common had exactly the kind of feel that makes this stage of wedding planning so special — relaxed, unhurried, and full of genuine connection.
We met in the late afternoon as the light began to soften across West Common, one of those open, peaceful spaces that gives you room to breathe. The long grass, wide skies, and warm evening sun created a natural backdrop that needed very little direction. It was really about letting Annie and Joe be themselves and allowing those small in-between moments to unfold naturally.
We started with a gentle walk, chatting as we went, easing into the shoot without any pressure or posing that felt forced. That’s often where the best photographs come from — when couples forget about the camera and simply enjoy time together. There was laughter, quiet pauses, and those fleeting glances that say far more than anything staged ever could.
As the sun dropped lower, the light turned golden and soft, wrapping everything in a calm glow. Annie and Joe settled into the rhythm of the evening, walking hand in hand, stopping occasionally just to take it all in. It’s in these moments that you really see the connection between two people — the comfort, the ease, the anticipation of everything still to come.
West Common gave us space to explore different pockets of light and texture, from open grassy stretches to more intimate framed spots where the sun filtered through beautifully. It was the perfect setting for a pre-wedding shoot that felt natural and timeless.
These sessions are always a great opportunity not just to create beautiful images, but also to build familiarity before the wedding day itself. By the end of the shoot, everything feels more relaxed, more effortless — which always translates into even stronger photographs on the day.
I’m already looking forward to capturing Annie and Joe’s wedding later this year at White Hart Hotel. If this pre-wedding session is anything to go by, their wedding day will be filled with the same warmth, laughter, and genuine moments that made this evening so enjoyable to photograph.
